Dangal beats all records but fails to surpass Sultan

Aamir Khan's Dangal has managed to beat Dhoom 3's opening week collection after raking in a whopping Rs 197.53 crore in its first week. However, it still lags behind as Salman Khan's Sultan stands tall in the first position for earning Rs 229.16 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the opening week collection of Dangal saying, “#Dangal Fri 29.78 cr, Sat 34.82 cr, Sun 42.41 cr, Mon 25.69 cr, Tue 23.09 cr, Wed 21.46 cr, Thu 20.29 cr. Total: Rs 197.53 cr. India biz.” As you can see, the film's collections on weekdays haven't slowed down much. In fact, surprisingly Dangal continued to rake in a very impressive collection at the box office. As we checked the box office figures of all time highest opening week earners, we found out that Dangal's collection has surpassed a lot of big movies.
With Rs 197.53 crore, Aamir's wrestling biopic has beaten Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, PK and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo to become the second highest opening week earner. While the film has done phenomenal business, it still hasn't been able to beat Salman's Sultan as his film proudly holds on to first position with Rs 229.16 crore. When we check the film's stand in the lifetime collection chart of films that released in 2016, Dangal stands in the second position. Although once again, Sultan's Rs 300 crore mark is the highest, we wonder if in the coming weeks, the wrestling biopic will be able to beat Sultan…

As you can see, the collection of Dangal hasn't faltered much. People are still going to the theatres to watch this film. In fact, luckily as there are no big releases in the first week of January, Aamir still has time to earn more and surpass Salman's film. Trade gurus have speculated that Dangal will earn Rs 350 crore in the domestic market. Which means chances of the film beating Sultan is pretty high. As you can see, in overseas box office, Dangal has already entered the 100 crore club. Starring Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and Aparshakti Khurrana, the film has not just raked in good money but also great reviews from critics and audience.
The second week of Dangal at the box office will commence today. Do you think the numbers will witness a dip or will it continue to earn more money? Tell us in the comments section below.
